He then founded the International Slow Movement in response to the growing fast food culture.<br \/>\nFirst, the movement was focusing on the food culture, but it quickly reached other areas of our everyday lives; arts, design, fashion, urban planning and so on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u201cThe fast life is all around us \u2013 fast food, fast cars, fast conversations, fast families, and fast holidays. We may be living great lives but we aren\u2019t \u2018there\u2019 for them. We don\u2019t take the time to linger over food, over friends, over our family etc. We are not savouring our life and are starving of the real connection to our life.\u201d This quote found on the Slow Movement website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.slowmovement.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.slowmovement.com<\/a>) truly captures the essential elements behind this philosophy: Slow down, enjoy the present fully, and feed meaningful connections with yourself and others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><br \/>\nWe know how it all sounds so straightforward and simple, and yet when it comes down to practice, we all struggle to find the time to enjoy the benefits of a slower life pace.<br \/>\nHow many times have we all whished we had more time? More time to go and see that exhibition, more time to read that book, more time to go and see that film, more time to hang out with friends and family\u2026 We all seem to crave time! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> What How To Spa suggests is that you try and make it into an everyday habit to free your mind and become genuinely available for yourself and others.<br \/>\nIt can be taking the time to meditate once the kids are in bed, even if it\u2019s only 5 minutes, or taking 5 min at lunch break at work to book those tickets for that exhibition, or answering friends and family\u2019s messages on the bus and enjoy a meaningful chat, or simply day dreaming and enjoying the present moment while on public transport.<br \/>\nWellbeing professionals make of this slow pace a priority.
