In Tibetan, mandala is said “kyil-khor”, a combination of words that some translate as center-periphery.
In Tibetan Buddhism, this environment with uncertain limits represents the beginning and the end of all that is.
Organized around the four cardinal points, a mandala is a map of the concentric organization of the universe.
Rich in symbols, it is also the landscape of our deep nature.
In Buddhist culture, these ephemeral works traced with colored sand,
were only intended for the practice of meditation.
Their realization, long and complex, favored the concentration necessary for this inner journey.
While contemplating a mandala, a meditator seeks to create mental images
of Buddha and bodhisattva.
The mandala leads him to its center, on the path to awakening.
