5 TREASURES OF YOUR SPA EXPERIENCE REVEALED

Interior of massage room in spa salon

Hello dear reader,,

There are little extras that you experience without realising how much they bring to your spa experience. They are among the reasons we fell in love with the world of spa. When you enter these temples of wellbeing, all your senses are awakened to make you enjoy a unique deep relaxation.
That’s why you’ll find suggestions to accommodate these 5 key elements at home (or work etc.) in our tutorials, for the best possible experience.

SCENTS

Most spas carefully design the olfactory journey they take their clients on.
The chosen scents welcome your senses right from the entrance hall, helping you gently switch to a more relaxed mode. These can be simple citrus fruit or flowers, or a more complex blend especially designed for the spa, tailored to their story and expertise.
From the entrance to the treatment rooms and further, scents play an “invisible” role in your experience; through the products tailored to the treatment you’re having, and the complimentary teas you’re often offered, they comfort you and promote a deeper relaxation.

Our tutorials, always suggest products you can use for your relaxation sessions, such as home mists, scented candles, cosmetics, teas and infusions.

MUSIC

Music is another invisible key element to your relaxation moment. Like scents, music is present right from the entrance hall of a spa or wellbeing institute. Always soft and calming, the aim is to help soothe your senses and ease your mind, leaving the stress behind you from the moment your step through the doors.
Music also floats in the air in the treatment rooms, where a selection of musics can be offered to you, often tailored to the chosen treatment. You often find sounds of Nature, or Reiki music, or even jazzy. Some spas also give you the opportunity to bring your own music if you wish to.

For your session, you’ll find background music suggestions and links to free playlists to download in our tutorials

TAILORED MASSAGE

In many spas and institutes, you’ll choose from a “menu” the most suitable massage for you and your needs. Often, that chosen massage will be more effective than you wished it to be! The reason? Well, even if the massage is the same on paper for everyone who chooses it, the therapist will always tailor it to each person, listening to the client’s needs and likes, and to what they can feel with their experienced and giften hands (higher tension areas, knots etc.). The massage might be given with a bit more strength to some client, or a lighter touch to another, focusing on a painful area, using different oils depending on the person’s skin etc. As long as the massage specs are respected, feel free to discuss variations with your therapist.

We designed our self-massage tutorials along these lines, offering a variety of variations whether you want a cocooning, detox or energy boosting result.

TEA AND TREATS

Many spas offer drinks and treats before or after your treatment. The entire team is here to make you have the best experience and the most relaxing time. You can be offered a selection of teas, infusions and sweet or savoury treats to indulge with. It makes the experience highly enjoyable and unique!
The drinks offered can truly complement your treatment, such as calming herbal teas, or detox and energy boosting drinks.

That’s why you’ll always find a selection of teas and infusions in our tutorials to complement your How To Spa session.

THE RELAXATION ROOM

What often makes a world of difference in a spa or intitute is the opportunity to stay for a little while after your treatment in a room dedicated to relaxation.
It can be laid-out as a tea-room, or even have beds or comfty sofas with help-yourself book shelves and blankets to get cosy. The relaxation room is designed to help you make the most of your treatment, making the relaxation last longer, and helping you reconnect slowly with the outside world.
We strongly believe this transition step is very important for a unique and durable wellbeing experience.

How To Spa is here to help you create this transition space at home, just like a spa, with suggestions for homeware, linen, decoration items, reads and tips in every tutorial

So jump in and treat yourself to a spa experience!
